ASPARAGUS TART WITH GRUYERE CHEESE

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet Frozen Puff Pastry thawed but still cool.
  • 1 1/2 c Gruyere Cheese shredded.
  • 1 lb. Asparagus thin-medium spears if possible. Snap the ends off each spear and then trim even shorter if needed.
  • Balsamic Reduction
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Olive Oil

Instructions

  • Lightly flour work surface.
  • Unfold thawed puff pastry and roll out into a 10-16 inch rectangle.
  • Slice off a thin edge of the pastry all around. This ensures a more even rising of the dough.
  • Lightly score the dough 1 inch from the edges and all the way around the rectangle. Be careful not to cut the dough all the way through.
  • Pierce the dough with a fork several times within the interior rectangle.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden.
  • Watch closely.
  • Take out of the oven and let cool.
  • When ready to prepare and cook
  • Sprinkle the crust with Gruyere Cheese.
  • Trim the asparagus to fit the crust crosswise and arrange it on the crust alternating tips and ends. Press down lightly.
  • Brush the entire rectangle with olive oil including the crust edges.
  • Season with Salt & Pepper.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until spears are tender and cooked through.
  • Remove from the oven and drizzle with Sweet Balsamic Reduction.
