Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard full grain
  • 1 tbsp breakfast syrup
  • 2 waffles leftover homemade or store-bought. If using frozen store-bought, cook prior to making your sandwich.
  • 1/4 cup Borden Cheese Thick Cut Shreds, Mild or Sharp Cheddar divided
  • 1/2 apple thinly sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat a counter griddle (panini press) such as a foreman grill to medium heat. Spray with nonstick spray (I like coconut oil).
  • Mix together the dijon and syrup in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Lay the waffles side by side and place half of syrup mixture onto the inside of each piece.
  • On the waffle that will be the bottom of the sandwich, sprinkle half the cheese, onto the syrup.
  • Layer the apple slices over the cheese.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheese. Cover with the other waffle, sauce side down.
  • Add the sandwich to the griddle and close sandwich inside. Cook for 5 minutes or until waffles are toasted and cheese is fully melted.
  • Cut sandwich in two and serve. Enjoy!
