Equipment

  • Dry Ice (optional)

Ingredients

  • 750 mL white wine chilled (1 bottle)
  • 1 cup apple cider -- not apple cider vinegar!
  • ½ cup sour apple schnapps
  • 1 green apple diced or sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks plus more for garnish
  • 2 star anise

Instructions

  • In a large pitcher, stir together the white wine, apple cider, and sour apple schnapps.
750 mL white wine, 1 cup apple cider, ½ cup sour apple schnapps

  • Add the diced apple, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.
1 green apple, 2 cinnamon sticks, 2 star anise
A pitcher of apple cider with cinnamon sticks in it.
  • Cover and place the sangria in the fridge for at least 2 hours (or up to 6 hours) before serving.
  • Enjoy garnished with a slice of green apple and a cinnamon stick.
  • (Optional) To make this sangria extra spooky, add a small cube (about ½-inch) of dry ice to the cocktail before serving. Make sure the dry ice has fully dissolved before enjoying.

Notes

  • Be careful when handling dry ice and never touch dry ice with your bare hands. I recommend using temperature-proof gloves and silicone utensils at all times. Never ingest dry ice– allow all cocktails to finish smoking before consuming. Never keep dry ice in a sealed container. Consult a safety data sheet for full safety protocols.
Storage: Store Halloween sangria in a pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Add dry ice just before serving.
