For the Homemade Vanilla Syrup
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 vanilla bean split down the middle
- 1/2 tablespoon real vanilla extract
For the Vanilla Iced Coffee
- 1/8 cup Homemade Vanilla Syrup see above
- 1/4 cup Lactaid Whole Milk
- 1 cup strongly brewed coffee chilled
- 2 cups ice
For the Homemade Vanilla Syrup
Heat water, sugars, and vanilla bean in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Stir as it simmers occasionally.
Allow to simmer for 5-8 minutes, then remove from heat.
Stir in vanilla extract and allow to cool.
Store in the fridge (up to 1-2 weeks) in an airtight container until ready to use.
