Spicy Cheesy Broccoli Recipe (Firecracker Broccoli with Cheese)

My Spicy Cheesy Broccoli Recipe is an easy and delicious way to eat seasonal broccoli. Tender broccoli florets coated with spicy seasoning, topped with cheese and baked to perfection. These firecracker broccoli have a perfect balance of heat and creaminess.

Ingredients

  • 2 large broccoli heads
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon Sriracha optional
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice about one lime
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1/4 cup shredded Pepper Jack cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Chop 2 heads of broccoli into florets and set aside.

  • To make the firecracker sauce, in a large bowl, whisk together oil, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha (optional), and lime juice.
    3 tablespoons olive oil, 4 tablespoons sweet chili sauce, 1/2 tablespoon Sriracha, 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • Add your broccoli in batches, coating completely in the sauce and then transfer to a baking sheet in a single layer.
  • Season generously with salt and pepper to taste. (For an extra kick, add some red pepper flakes).

  • Sprinkle with shredded Pepper Jack cheese.

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until charred and cooked to tender.

Notes

  • Use a cheese that melts well, such as Mozzarella, Provolone, or Gruyère.
  • Substitute with frozen broccoli if fresh isn't available.
  • I highly recommend using fresh lime juice in this recipe.
