Apple Butter Old Fashioned

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp apple butter store-bought or homemade
  • 2 dashes aromatic bitters or orange bitters
  • ¼ cup apple cider
  • 2 oz. good quality bourbon
  • oz. club soda
  • coarse sugar optional, for rim
  • apple slices and cinnamon stick optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Place apple butter, bitters, apple cider, and bourbon in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously to combine.
    2 tbsp apple butter, 2 dashes aromatic bitters, ¼ cup apple cider, 2 oz. good quality bourbon
  • Rim your glass with sugar and fill with ice.

  • Pour apple butter mixture over ice and top with club soda.

  • Serve garnished with apple slices and cinnamon stick.

Notes

  • If the apple butter doesn't get incorporated, stir the mixture.
  • The bitters help balance the flavor, so don't omit them.
  • Add the club soda just before you want to drink the cocktail, so it still has its fizz.
  • Store for up to 1 day.
