Taco Pizza is a family-friendly dish that combines the flavors of tacos and pizza. It is easy to make and can be customized with your favorite toppings.

  • 16 ounces refried beans store-bought or homemade (1 can)
  • 1 ounce taco seasoning store-bought or homemade (1 packet)
  • 8 ounces taco sauce store-bought or homemade, divided
  • 16 ounces pizza dough store-bought or homemade, room temperature
  • 3 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • ½ cup halved cherry tomatoes
  • ½ cup chopped green bell pepper
  • ¼ cup sliced olives
  • Sliced green onions optional, for topping
  • Fresh cilantro optional, for topping
  • Sour cream optional, for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 500°F.
  • In a medium bowl, mix the refried beans, taco seasoning, and half of the taco sauce together.

  • On a floured surface, stretch and roll the dough into a 12-inch circle.

  • Spread the refried beans evenly over the dough.

  • Drizzle on the remaining taco sauce.

  • Top with ¾ of the cheese, tomatoes, bell pepper, and olives. Sprinkle on the remaining cheese.

  • Bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the crust is brown.
  • Top with dollops of sour cream, green onions, and cilantro if desired. Slice and serve!

Notes

  • Feel free to change up the toppings and cheeses to suit your personal tastes.
  • Add the protein of your choice, such as shredded cooked chicken or ground beef.
  • Gently warm the refried bean mixture in the microwave to make it easier to spread on the dough.
  • If you plan to prepare taco pizza ahead of time, I recommend waiting until just before serving before adding the lettuce, tomato, and cheese to prevent sogginess.
  • If you don’t have a pizza pan, you can use a sheet pan!
