This Orange Bourbon Slush is a Christmas Eve tradition in my family, so I’m really excited to share it. It’s the perfect mixture of orange juice, lemonade, tea, and bourbon, in an icy, slushie form. It’s like a dessert and drink in one. And even though I like to drink it over the holidays, an icy treat like this would taste just as good during the heat of summer.

Frozen Fruity Bourbon Slush
Orange Bourbon Slush is a fun and delicious treat that has become a holiday tradition in my family. My grandma started making this delicious concoction back in 1989, and she made it every Christmas Eve when we were growing up. Of course, I didn’t get to drink it until I was 21, but I know the adults enjoyed it many years before me.
I remember when my grandma used to give me a little taste of the orange ice when I was younger. I knew that someday, I’d be able to drink these delicious orange slushes on Christmas Eve along with everyone else. Now, I’m the one making them, and they are so easy to prepare with frozen orange juice and lemonade, along with tea, water, and bourbon. I like pulling it together the day before I’m hosting, so once my guests arrive, it’s ready to go.
Tips for Beginners
- Any brand of bourbon is fine. No need to go with high end bourbon. Any brand will work.
- Plan accordingly. The slush needs several hours in the freezer, so make sure to prepare it the day before you want to serve it.
- Remove half an hour before serving. This way, the mixture has time to soften so you can easily eat it with a spoon. Straight from the freezer, it will be too hard to eat.

Serving Suggestions
When Christmas Eve rolls around and this slushie is in the freezer, I’ll prepare some treats for us to enjoy. I like to have ham rolls and these savory bacon stuffed mushrooms on hand for us to snack on. And, because I’m addicted, this salted caramel puppy chow also makes an appearance as a snack. This orange bourbon slush recipe is ideal for when I’m feeding a crowd as it makes a big batch.
