Marvelous Malted Milkshake

This malt milkshake is so easy to make. It’s perfect for summer nights and fun treats. I love this chocolate banana malt flavor, but you can use this recipe for other flavors too.

I have a feeling we are in for a long, hot summer here in Missouri. I thought Florida was hot when I lived there, but at least there you have an ocean out the window. Here in Missouri, we are landlocked and burning up day after day. And for me, the ideal way to cool off is ice cream, so this milkshake is my go-to when the temperature rises.

The combination of banana, chocolate, and malt is one of my favorites, though any combination will work. I usually use vanilla ice cream, but any flavor will taste great. As long as it’s cold, creamy, and sweet, it’s good for me!

Tips for Beginners

  • Make just before serving. Prepare the milkshake just before you serve it, as the ice cream will melt and turn liquid.
  • Any fat milk will work. Skim, whole, or 2% milk will all work. The higher the fat content, the richer the milkshake.
  • Adjust the consistency. I like my milkshakes nice and thick, but if you prefer a little thinner, you can add more milk or adjust to your liking.
  • Keep a stash of bananas in the freezer. No banana should ever go to waste. Once they start to get brown and too ripe to eat, I cut them into chunks and stash them in the freezer. They are perfect for making milkshakes, smoothies, and banana bread.

What To Enjoy With This Creamy Milkshake

These chocolate banana malt milkshakes are the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer’s night. I like serving them with a few slices of watermelon, a refreshing fruit salsa with cinnamon chips, or, if I’m looking to add a dessert we can sink our teeth into, I’ll make this strawberry jello pie with fresh, seasonal strawberries. This milkshake recipe comes together in just minutes, so it is one of my favorite go-tos when it’s sweltering hot outside and I’m craving something cool and refreshing.

How to Store

It is best to drink this milkshake as soon as it’s ready, but if you have leftovers, you can store them in the freezer for up to 1 month. I recommend taking the milkshake out of the freezer, letting it sit on the counter for a few minutes, and giving it a stir or putting it in the blender again before consuming.

I’m looking forward to making your Chocolate Banana Malt Milk-
shake; however I’m not sure whether you are using whole, 1%,
or 2% milk. I drink 1% (doctor’s orders) but have whole or 2%
on hand for recipes that specifically ask for one or the other.
And…..I want to tell you that I printed out your Baked Tomatoes
with Mozzarella and Parmesan, Cheesy Ravioli Skillet (Big fan of Buitoni products!), and Crispy Cinnamon Sugar Biscuit Bites (Health-wise, cinnamon in good for you!).

So, if you can let me know about the milk, I’d appreciate it. Also, I must tell you that many years ago I cut out of the Washington Post newspaper Rookie Cookie Recipe Soy-Glazed Burger. Copies of the recipe I gave to my daughter, son, grandson, wife of my ex (children’s father). I’m planning on doing the same with

the above-named recipes and direct their attention to you.

Thank you!

What a delicious summer treat, Becky. Our heat index hasn’t really kicked in here in New England yet, but it’s coming. August can be brutal. Bookmarking this for when we NEED it! :)
