“I made these tonight and they were an absolute hit. I changed the recipe a little bit and used peanuts instead of almonds and dried Thompson raisins instead of grapes. It was easy to make and delicious. I will definitely make it again. Thank you!” – Joanna
Your New Favorite Chicken Salad Slider
Healthy Chicken Salad Sliders are a version of this chicken salad sandwich, which I have been obsessed with. Chicken salad is always my go-to lunch, and now, I have another way to prepare it.
Tasty, so easy to make, and flavorful, all I do is combine cooked chicken with cranberries, grapes, apples, almonds, and Greek yogurt, and I’ve got a creamy, crunchy, sweet, and savory filling to layer between the bun. When I’m in the mood for a chicken salad option with a bit of a kick, these Mexican chicken salad sandwiches are my go-to choice. I like to prepare these sliders for a quick midweek lunch, but they also make an appearance at summertime gatherings.
Tips for Beginners
- Change the add-ins. I made mine with grapes, slivered almonds, apple, and craisins, but you can customize it any way you like and add your favorites into the mix. I think it would be delicious with celery, pineapple, pecans…the list goes on and on.
- Dice the add-ins small and evenly. This way, each bite is well-balanced.
- Toast the almonds. If you have time, toasting adds a deeper flavor.
- Dry the grapes well. Pat the grapes down after washing them to remove any moisture, which can dilute the taste of the chicken salad.

Serving Suggestions
I love serving these sliders for lunch with a bowl of mom’s tomato soup with cheesy crostini, and a side of these crunchy homemade baked sweet potato chips. Sometimes, I’ll make a batch of refrigerator pickles to add more crunch to my meal. This recipe is quick and easy to prepare, so ideal for a busy weekday but also fun to prepare for a weekend summer picnic.

I have always disliked mayo AND miracle whip so I’ve been making my chicken salad like this ( or various versions, but always using yogurt as a binder). Everyone who’s ever eaten it loves it. Healthy and delicious. So glad others are catching on! My other favorite trick is using avocado in the same way for a more savory chicken or tuna salad! Tuna, red onion, lemon juice, mashed avocado are the base, then just let your imagination run wild with add ins. Current favorite for me is walnuts and almonds- I’m adding them to everything!
Thanks for sharing, Karen!
I wonder how it taste
These look terrific. I’m hosting a baby shower next weekend, and they’ll be a perfect addition. I’ve also linked to them on my blog’s healthy recipes weekend roundup. Delicious!
Aw thank you so much Kristi! So sweet of you. Hope you love them!
Thanks for the recipe! The only think I would change is to prepare my own chicken–Rotisserie Chicken (store bought) is not very healthy for you–super high in sodium and pumped with animal antibiotics…so many easy ways to prepare chicken in a much healthier way.
